Dr. John Henry Pang, MD is a double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in San Francisco who specializes in gender-affirming facial surgery. Dr. Pang completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, one of the top plastic surgery residencies in the United States. Prior to joining Align Surgical Associates, he completed the comprehensive Gender Surgery training program at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Pang has dedicated his career to providing compassionate and highly skilled surgical care for transgender and non-binary patients. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Board of Surgery and the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH).

Dr. Pang is passionate about Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS). His deep expertise in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery allow him to masterfully perform the full spectrum of FFS procedures.

FFS can involve multiple procedures, such as forehead sculpting, mandible contouring, rhinoplasty and cheek augmentation. Your personal goals and Dr. Pang's recommendations will help determine which procedures are right for you.

  • Hairline Correction - Advancing and feminizing the hairline on the forehead. Eyebrows can also be elevated (Brow Lift.)
  • Forehead Recontouring - Creating a more feminine contour to the forehead.
  • Brow Lift - Repositions the eyebrows higher. This is one of the most effective procedures to feminize the upper face.
  • Cheek Augmentation & Implants - Cheek implants or bone filler can be used to give the cheeks the desirable full, round appearance.
  • Rhinoplasty - Surgical refinements to the nose can make it appear more feminine (narrower, shorter, directed upwards and slightly concave.)
  • Lip Lift and Reshaping - Shortening the distance between the top lip and nose. Lips can also be made to look more full using implants or fillers.
  • Chin Recontouring - Reducing the size of the chin and changing its shape. An implant may be used to augment the forward projection of the chin.
  • Jaw Recontouring -  The angle of the jaw is cut to achieve a feminine contour. The jaw may be narrowed as well.
  • Tracheal Shave - The thyroid cartilage ("Adam's apple") is shaved down to a more feminine size.

Additionally, Dr. Pang offers Vaginoplasty, Breast Augmentation, Buttock Augmentation and Body Sculpting.

Dr. Pang performs surgeries at Marin Health Medical Center, California Pacific Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital Surgery Facility and Post Street Surgery Center.

Insurance
Dr. Pang accepts insurance, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield. If Dr. Pang is not in-network with your plan, Align Surgical may be able to negotiate a single case agreement with your insurance company.

Booking a Consultation
Contact Dr. Pang's office to book your phone, virtual or in-person consultation. If you have insurance, the consultation fee of $50 may be covered. The wait time for a consultation is 4-6 weeks and a surgery date can usually be booked within two months of your consult.
