Dr. Aran Yoo, MD is a plastic surgeon in Scottsdale who specializes in gender-affirming surgery, including Facial Feminization. She completed fellowship training in gender surgery which allows her to perform delicate facial procedures with the highest level of skill. Dr. Yoo and her experienced team are dedicated to providing truly inclusive surgical care for transgender and nonbinary individuals.

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree and a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois in 2013, Dr. Yoo attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine for her medical degree. She then completed the LSU Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program where she discovered a passion for plastic, reconstructive and gender-affirming surgery. Following residency, Dr. Yoo completed a 1-year fellowship in gender surgery with Dr. Toby Meltzer, an expert with more than 25 years of experience in the field.

Facial feminization surgery (FFS) is a specialized set of procedures designed to soften facial features, helping individuals achieve a more traditionally feminine appearance. While FFS is most commonly sought by transgender women, it is also an option for cisgender women who desire more feminine facial contours.

FFS typically addresses three key areas of the face:

  • Upper third: Hairline correction, forehead recontouring
  • Middle third: Rhinoplasty (nose surgery), cheek augmentation, lip lift
  • Lower third: Chin and jaw contouring, tracheal shave

Dr. Yoo is available for phone, virtual, or in-person consultations for a fee of $100. The wait time for a consultation is about three months and surgeries are scheduled within 3-6 months after the consultation.

Surgery Requirements

  • Dr. Yoo is a Member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. A letter of recommendation from a qualified mental health provider is required.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Smoking cessation.
